Using TaxCompliant.net’s file processing system is pretty simple. The retailer’s only necessary tools are an e-mail account and Excel versions 97 or above installed. Here are the steps:
- Retailer notifies TaxCompliant by e-mail, info@taxcompliant.net, that he or she wishes to use the service.
- TaxCompliant responds back to the retailer with a link to the Dropbox . (The Dropbox is simply a cloud storage area for sharing files.)
- The link for the Dropbox will include instructions for downloading (or saving) the retailer’s file.
- After the retailer saves the csv file, TaxCompliant processes the file and saves it in the Dropbox. The retailer is notified by e-mail that the processed file (which will be an Excel workbook) is available in the Dropbox.
- The retailer can now open the file using their Excel application.
The retailer’s csv file must include only those transactions for the tax period to be processed. For example, a first quarter return should include entries beginning on January 1 and ending on March 31. Each entry should include City, State, Zip Code, Taxable Amount, Tax Amount and Tax Rate. Do not include personal identification such as the customer’s name or specific address. A preferred format is that used for our example Quickbooks transaction report.
Note that there is no charge for the first-time trial of our service. It is our primary objective that our customers are completely confident in and satisfied with our service.
